Start networking now!

As one of the main goals of a conference is finding interesting people who shares or complements your interests, we think the blog can be a good place to start these interaction.

For that reason, we encourage you to say what kind of people you expect to find.

For example, maybe you are planning to request a project and need some industry partner related to Web 2.0.  Or maybe you have the pedagogies and you are looking for a technological partner to build a mobile learning environment. Just post a comment saying what you would like to find, and people will contact you before the conference starts, so in the conference you will be able to meet and talk.

We hope you enjoy this game!

Some tourism advices

Here we want to give you some advices regarding hotels, areas, etc.

The recommended hotels are Husa Moncloa (4*) or Husa Princesa (5*). Buses to the conference locations will go from and back to the Husa Princesa. Both hotels are door-to-door .

Moncloa and Princesa is a nice and “quiet” area in the North-West of Madrid full of shops, culture, nightlife, etc. And a really safe place.

Jacinto Benavente is the really old town of Madrid, is near Puerta del Sol (Sun Square), the “administrative center of Spain”, and the Plaza Mayor (Major Square). They are really touristic areas, a bit noisy, and a place to find a lot of pickpockets and other “touristic attracted people”. It’s a good area to go to see some place or diner or take tapas, but not for living there.

Some pictures of the Venue – UNED Library

The IEEE EDUCON 2010 conference will be held on the campuses of UNED (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia) and UPM (Universidad Politécnica de Madrid). Both campuses are inside Madrid’s University City, in the Northwest of Madrid. Today we want to start this serie of pictures of the venues with the UNED Library, where some of the meetings will be held:

Get the most out of the conference!

Have a look on this post of Avil Beckford about how to get the most out of a conference:

http://technorati.com/business/gurus/article/getting-the-most-out-of-conferences/

Some tips are for example:

  • Make a list of questions that you would like answered. Who are the people who will likely be able to answer those questions
  • Are there people at the event that you would like to meet? Find out from the event organizers if they can introduce you to those people
  • Be open and flexible and expect the unexpected

And of course, enjoy the social events to meet other interesting people! You never know where a good idea can come from!
